Our Puppy School program is the perfect course for the new puppy owner. If you have a new puppy and want to give your puppy the best start in life our puppy school program covers socialisation skills as well as basic obedience behaviours such as sit, drop, recall, sit stay, heeling and attention behaviours. We cover what is normal puppy behaviour and play, and detect any abnormal behaviours allowing for early intervention.
We use positive reward based training methods which are simple to use and also help to build a strong relationship with your pup.
The puppy training course is for puppies aged between 8-16 weeks. Puppies need to be up-to-date with their vaccination program, with at least two weeks duration since their first vaccination. It is recommended that your puppy also be covered against the Canine Cough virus before attending.
The program consists of five x 1-hour classes and runs according to demand and each course has 4-5 puppies, which allows for a more personalised approach to the training of the handler and puppy. Classes are held in the veterinary hospital reception area.
Our classes are run by Sam one of our nurses who has over 18 years experience in puppy training and is a qualified dog instructor.
The most important thing about Puppy Pre-school is ‘start early’. Waiting too long can allow behaviour problems to establish which then require more intensive training to overcome.
